JOY

Biblical joy is inseparable from our relationship with God and springs from our knowledge and understanding of the purpose of life and the hope of living with God for eternity when there will be joy evermore.

  • Romans 12:12-16 - (12) Rejoice in the hope. Endure under tribulation. Persevere in prayer. (13) Share with the holy ones according to their needs. Follow the course of hospitality. (14) Keep on blessing those who persecute; bless and do not curse. (15) Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep. (16) Have the same attitude toward others as toward yourselves; do not set your mind on lofty things, but be led along with the lowly things. Do not become wise in your own eyes.

WORSHIP

As I read the Bible, I am amazed at the different ways that people have expressed their worship to God through poems, stories, and song! There is nothing more important that worshipping God - and I say that in ALL honesty! Think about the many things we do in our lives and then understand ONE thing; To our Heavenly Father, our God - it IS all about worshipping Him! Nothing else is more important!

  • 1 Chronicles 16:34 - Give thanks to Jehovah, for He is good; His loyal love endures forever.
  • John 4:21 - 24 - (21) Jesus said to her: "Believe me, woman, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. (22) You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, because salvation begins with the Jews. (23) Nevertheless, the hour is coming, and it is now, when the true worshippers will worship the Father with spirit and truth, for indeed, the Father is looking for ones like these to worship Him. (24) God is Spirit, and those worshipping Him must worship with spirit and truth."
  • Psalm 150:6 - (6) Every breathing thing — let it praise Jah (God). Praise Jah!
  • Habakkuk 3:17-18 - (17) Although the fig tree may not blossom, And there may be no fruit on the vines; Although the olive crop may fail, And the fields may produce no food; Although the flock may disappear from the pen, And there may be no cattle in the stalls; (18) Yet, as for me, I will exult in Jehovah; I will be joyful in the God of my salvation.
  • Psalm 63:1 - 4 - (1) O God, you are my God, I keep looking for You. I do thirst for You. I am faint with longing for You In a dry and parched land, where there is no water. (2) So I have looked upon You in the holy place; I have seen Your strength and Your glory. (3) Because Your loyal love is better than life, my own lips will glorify You. (4) Thus I will praise You all my life; In Your name I will lift up my hands.
  • 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 - (1) Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, (4) who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trial with the comfort that we receive from God.

HONOR

As Christians, we ought to be an example of high integrity and honor. What is honor? The world defines it in many ways, but we will define honor as "a keen sense of ethical conduct." Honor is often used to refer to one's word being given as a guarantee. It is personal integrity, honesty and showing respect to others.

  • 1Peter 2:17 - (17) Honor men of all sorts, have love for the whole association of brothers, be in fear of God, honor the king
  • Deuteronomy 5:16 - (16) "'Honor your father and your mother, just as Jehovah your God has commanded you, so that you may live a long time and you may prosper in the land that Jehovah your God is giving you.'"
  • Romans 13:1-7 - (1) Let every person be in subjection to the superior authorities, for there is no authority except by God; the existing authorities stand placed in their relative positions by God. (2) Therefore, whoever opposes the authority has taken a stand against the arrangement of God; those who have taken a stand against it will bring judgment against themselves. (3) For those rulers are an object of fear, not to the good deed, but to the bad. Do you want to be free of fear of the authority? Keep doing good, and you will have praise from it; (4) for it is God's minister to you for your good. But if you are doing what is bad, be in fear, for it is not without purpose that it bears the sword. It is God's minister, an avenger to express wrath against the one practicing what is bad. (5) There is therefore compelling reason for you to be in subjection, not only on account of that wrath but also on account of your conscience. (6) That is why you are also paying taxes; for they are God's public servants constantly serving this very purpose. (7) Render to all their dues: to the one who calls for the tax, the tax; to the one who calls for the tribute, the tribute; to the one who calls for fear, such fear; to the one who calls for honor, such honor.
  • Proverbs 3:9 & 10 - (9) Honor Jehovah with your valuable things, With the firstfruits of all your produce; (10) Then your storehouses will be completely filled, And your vats will overflow with new wine.
  • 1 Peter 3:15 - (15) But sanctify the Christ as Lord in your hearts, always ready to make a defense before everyone who demands of you a reason for the hope you have, but doing so with a mild tempery and deep respect.
  • 1 Timothy 5:17 - (17) Let the elders who preside in a fine way be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard in speaking and teaching.

ENCOURAGEMENT

The word of God has a great way of encouraging us to be strong and courageous in the midst of tumultuous circumstances. For every negative thought that is whispered into your ear - boldly speak the word of God and watch how your thought patterns will change! Watch how quickly the enemy will flee from you!

FELLOWSHIP

Fellowship is very important not just for our spirit but for our overall well-being. This gives us a chance to exchange what we are learning or have learned; it binds us together and helps keep up on the straight and narrow path :)

  • Matthew 18:18 - 20 - (18) "Truly I say to you, whatever things you may bind on earth will be things already bound in heaven, and whatever things you may loosen on earth will be things already loosened in heaven. (19) Again I tell you truly, if two of you on earth agree concerning anything of importance that they should request, it will take place for them on account of my Father in heaven. (20) For where there are two or three gathered together in My name, there I am in their midst."

WISDOM

Wisdom is so essential. It is what we need to have to make good choices and is derived from knowledge; most of the time, this knowledge is given to us first hand! Through hands on experience! (amen?) Anyways, wisdom has always been sought after by all ages of men; and while worldly wisdom is easily acquired, what we are after is spiritual wisdom. The ability to discern what is true and right. We need this so that we are not so easily misled by the many wolves in sheeps clothing!

  • Proverbs 3:13-18 - (13) Happy is the man who finds wisdom And the man who acquires discernment; (14) To gain it is better than gaining silver, And having it as profit is better than having gold. (15) It is more precious than corals; Nothing you desire can compare to it. (16) Long life is in its right hand; Riches and glory are in its left hand. (17) Its ways are pleasant, And all its paths are peaceful. (18) It is a tree of life to those who take hold of it, And those who keep firm hold of it will be called happy.
  • James 1:5 & 6 - (5) So if any one of you is lacking in wisdom, let him keep asking God, for He gives generously to all and without reproaching, and it will be given him. (6) But let him keep asking in faith, not doubting at all, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven by the wind and blown about.
  • Jeremiah 9:23 & 24 - (23) This is what Jehovah says: "Let not the wise man boast about his wisdom; Let not the mighty man boast about his mightiness; And let not the rich man boast about his riches." • Proverbs 10:23 - Engaging in shameful conduct is like a game to the stupid one, But wisdom is for the man of discernment.

UNDERSTANDING

Did you know there is a difference between wisdom and understanding? Anyone can recall something from memory when they need to, and we tend to say that the person is wise, has wisdom; but without understanding, we are just the echo in the room!

  • Jeremiah 33:1-3 - (1) The word of Jehovah came to Jeremiah the second time, while he was still confined in the Courtyard of the Guard, saying: (2) "This is what Jehovah the Maker of earth says, Jehovah who formed it and firmly established it; Jehovah is His name, (3) 'Call to Me, and I will answer you and readily tell you great and incomprehensible things that you have not known.'"
  • Proverbs 4:7 - Wisdom is the most important thing, so acquire wisdom, And with all you acquire, acquire understanding.i
  • Psalm 32:8 & 9 - "I will give you insight and instruct you in the way you should go. I will give you advice with My eye upon you. Do not become like a horse or a mule, without understanding, Whose spiritedness must be controlled with a bridle or a halter Before it will come near to you."
  • Psalm 119:130 - The disclosure of your words brings light, Giving understanding to the inexperienced.

COMPASSION

Compassion is a very big part of ourselves that must not ever become lost. As we go deeper and deeper into the last days, we are going to start to see many peoples among us start to lose their love and compassion and empathy towards others. Brothers and sisters; we must continue to hold on to these things for they are traits of the One we follow. Remember - "follow" does not mean like it does on social media! To follow means to desire and acquire the traits of another. If we lose these traits, we must then question who we follow.

  • Ephesians 4:31 & 32 - (31) Put away from yourselves every kind of malicious bitterness, anger, wrath, screaming, and abusive speech, as well as everything injurious. (32) But become kind to one another, tenderly compassionate, freely forgiving one another just as God also by Christ freely forgave you.
  • Colossians 3:12 - 14 - (12) Accordingly, as God's chosen ones, holy and loved, clothe yourselves with the tender affections of compassion, kindness, humility, mildness, and patience. (13) Continue putting up with one another and forgiving one another freely even if anyone has a cause for complaint against another. Just as Jehovah freely forgave you, you must also do the same. (14) But besides all these things, clothe yourselves with love, for it is a perfect bond of union.
  • Isaiah 30:18 - But Jehovah is waiting patiently to show you favor, And He will rise up to show you mercy. For Jehovah is a God of justice. Happy are all those keeping in expectation of Him.

  • Psalm 145:8 - Jehovah is compassionate and merciful, Slow to anger and great in loyal love.

FORGIVENESS

Most people have a hard time with true forgiveness; we all want it, but when it comes to giving it - it seems to be very hard to do sometimes. Brothers and sisters, we have to remember that none of us are perfect and we must forgive others in order to get forgiven. Forgiveness does not mean you have to have that person in your daily life, it means that you do not carry the heavy burden of hate, you do not want to see them in a bad situation, and you do not wish them harm. You continue to love them as another created being that our Father has given this life to. Not easy, I know..

  • Psalm 32:3-5- (3) When I kept silent, my bones wasted away because of my groaning all day long. (4) For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me. My strength evaporated like water in the dry summer heat. (Selah) (5) Finally I confessed my sin to You; I did not cover my error. I said: "I will confess my transgressions to Jehovah." And You pardoned the error of my sins.

  • Ephesians 4:31-32 - (31) "Put away from yourselves every kind of malicious bitterness, anger, wrath, screaming, and abusive speech, as well as everything injurious. (32) But become kind to one another, tenderly compassionate, freely forgiving one another just as God also by Christ freely forgave you."
  • Matthew 6:14 & 15 - (14) "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; (15) whereas if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."
  • 1 John 1:9 & 10 - If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous so as to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (10) If we make the statement, "We have not sinned," we are making Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

STRENGTH

Without God, strength remains limited by the flesh; we are fighting a spiritual war, not a fleshly war (our fight is not one of flesh and blood) - call on God for the strength you need to fight the war!

  • Isaiah 41:10-"Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be anxious, for I am your God. I will fortify (strengthen) you, yes, I will help you, I will really hold on to you with My right hand of righteousness."

KNOWLEDGE

How can you prevent being misled? By continually seeking accurate knowledge! If you are not looking, if you are not willing to be honest to self, to God and to Jesus - you can be very easily misled.

  • 1 Timothy 2:3-6 - (3) This is fine and acceptable in the sight of our Savior, God, (4) whose will is that all sorts of people should be saved and come to an accurate knowledge of truth. (5) For there is one God, and one mediatorf between God and men, a man, Christ Jesus, (6) who gave himself a corresponding ransom for all — this is what is to be witnessed to in its own due time.

We are regarded as deceivers and yet we are truthful, (9) as unknown and yet we are recognized, as dying and yet look! we live, as punished and yet not handed over to death, (10) as sorrowing but ever rejoicing, as poor but making many rich, as having nothing and yet possessing all things.

LOYALTY

While loyalty in friendship is beautiful and inspiring, the most important loyalty in anyone's life is to Christ, the one who loved us so much that He died so that we could have abundant life.

  • Deuteronomy 7:9 - (9) You well know that Jehovah your God is the true God, the faithful God, keeping his covenant and loyal love to a thousand generations of those who love Him and keep His commandments."
  • Romans 8:35-39 - (35) Who will separate us from the love of the Christ? Will tribulation or distress or persecution or hunger or nakedness or danger or sword? (36) Just as it is written: "For your sake we are being put to death all day long; we have been accounted as sheep for slaughtering." (37) On the contrary, in all these things we are coming off completely victorious through the one who loved us. (38) For I am convinced that neither death nor life nor angels nor governments nor things now here nor things to come nor powers (39) nor height nor depth nor any other creation will be able to separate us from God's love that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
  • 2 Timothy 2:11-13 - (11) This saying is trustworthy: Certainly if we died together, we will also live together; (12) if we go on enduring, we will also rule together as kings; if we deny, He will also deny us; (13) if we are unfaithful, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny himself.
  • Matthew 26:33-26 - (33) But Peter, in response, said to Him: "Although all the others are stumbled in connection with you, I will never be stumbled!" (34) Jesus said to him: "Truly I say to you, on this night, before a rooster crows, you will disown me three times." (35) Peter said to Him: "Even if I should have to die with you, I will by no means disown you." All the other disciples also said the same thing. (36) Then Jesus came with them to the spot called Geth·semʹa·ne, and He said to the disciples: "Sit down here while I go over there and pray."
  • Proverbs 3:1-5 - (1)My son, do not forget my teaching, And may your heart observe my commandments, (2) Because they will add many days And years of life and peace to you. • Hosea 6:6 - (6) "For in loyal love I delight, not in sacrifice, And in the knowledge of God, rather than in whole burnt offerings."

JUSTICE

There is a concern for justice in our world today. However, to achieve justice for the world, we must better understand how God views it. God is merciful but Scripture also tells us that He is a just God who will judge injustice and wrongs. God sees the hearts and minds of men and will judge all men. Turn to these Bible verses for a better understanding of God's intentions.

  • Ecclesiastes 3:17 - So I said in my heart: "The true God will judge both the righteous and the wicked,l for there is a time for every activity and every action."
  • Hebrews 10:30 & 31 - (30) For we know the One who said: "Vengeance is mine; I will repay." And again: "Jehovah will judge his people." (31) It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

TRUTH

Truth is so very important to us because without the truth, we cannot make informed decisions. It is the key to preventing us from being misled. Our Bibles are full of warnings about us being misled and we have to avoid these traps at all costs! Simply taking another persons word for something is not enough; as everything we believe is based on the truths we hold!

  • John 8:31 & 32 - (31) Then Jesus went on to say to the Jews who had believed Him: "If you remain in my word, you are really my disciples, (32) and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

  • John 3:21 - But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God."
  • John 17:1-10 - (1) Jesus spoke these things, and raising His eyes to heaven, He said: "Father, the hour has come. Glorify your son so that your son may glorify you, (2) just as you have given him authority over all flesh, so that he may give everlasting life to all those whom you have given to him. (3) This means everlasting life, their coming to know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ. (4) I have glorified you on the earth, having finished the work you have given me to do. (5) So now, Father, glorify me at your side with the glory that I had alongside you before the world was. (6) I have made your name manifest to the men whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours, and you gave them to me, and they have observed your word. (7) Now they have come to know that all the things you gave me are from you; (8) because I have given them the sayings that you gave me, and they have accepted them and have certainly come to know that I came as your representative, and they have believed that you sent me. (9) I make request concerning them; I make request, not concerning the world, but concerning those whom you have given me, because they are yours; (10) and all my things are yours and yours are mine, and I have been glorified among them."

LOVE

God is the ultimate example of love. Through the Word of God, we are shown through the life and death of Jesus Christ what it means to love others first. Because of the love that God has shown us, we are called to show one another love. In fact, God tells us this is the greatest command!

  • 1 Corinthians 13:4 - 8 - (4) Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous. It does not brag, does not get puffed up, (5) does not behave indecently, does not look for its own interests, does not become provoked. It does not keep account of the injury. (6) It does not rejoice over unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth. (7) It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. (8) Love never fails. But if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away with; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away with.
  • 1 John 4:7 - 9 - (7) Beloved ones, let us continue loving one another, because love is from God, and everyone who loves has been born from God and knows God. (8) Whoever does not love has not come to know God, because God is love. (9) By this the love of God was revealed in our case, that God sent his only-begotten Son into the world so that we might gain life through Him
  • 1 John 3:1 - See what sort of love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are. That is why the world does not know us, because it has not come to know Him.
  • 1 John 3:18 - Little children, we should love, not in word or with the tongue, but in deed and truth.
  • Proverbs 10:12 - Hatred is what stirs up contentions, But love covers over all transgressions.

(22) And all the things you ask in prayer, having faith, you will receive."
